Moving house is a hundred small jobs wearing a trench coat. This is the spreadsheet that keeps them all in one place: a countdown to moving day, the budget, a 36-task checklist grouped by when each job actually bites, a box inventory, the change-of-address runaround, and a utilities sheet that warns you — in red — if a service gap is about to leave you without power, water or wifi on your first night.

It starts with your countdown. Type your moving date and today’s date, and the Dashboard tells you exactly how many days you have — plus your checklist % complete, tasks still open, budget estimated vs. spent, boxes packed, address changes done, and red alerts for the things that go wrong in real moves: the final two weeks arriving with tasks still open, spending creeping past the estimate, and utility transfers that don’t line up.

The 7 tabs:
• Start Here — who’s moving, from where, to where, moving date, today’s date (typed — see below), household size, movers or DIY. Everything reads from here.
• Dashboard — the whole move on one screen, all formulas, with an Estimated vs Actual chart.
• Move Budget — 16 typical moving costs pre-filled (movers or truck rental, boxes & supplies, packing service, storage, cleaning at both homes, utility deposits, travel, first-night supplies), with variance and automatic Over budget warnings.
• Task Checklist — 36 tasks grouped 8+ weeks out / 4 weeks / 2 weeks / 1 week / moving week / first week in, each with a practical note and a Status dropdown; % complete per group and overall calculates itself.
• Box Inventory — one row per box: room, contents, fragile flag, packed and unpacked tracking, with counts and % packed / % unpacked feeding the Dashboard.
• Notify List — 22 address changes pre-listed (USPS, driver’s licence, bank, cards, insurance, subscriptions, voter registration, school, vet & microchip registry), with done tracking and dates.
• Utilities — old-home stop dates beside new-home start dates for electric, water, gas, internet, trash and alarm. If the new service starts after moving day while the old one stops before it, the row flags GAP RISK in red.

One deliberate difference: the countdown is worked out from a “today’s date” that YOU type — this workbook never uses TODAY(). Spreadsheets that read the clock quietly rewrite themselves every time you open them; this one only changes when you do, and a past move stays exactly as it happened. In moving week, just update the date cell each morning.

The example is a real-shaped move, not a fantasy. The filled example follows a fictional family (the Parkers) moving from Tampa to North Port, Florida — six days out from the move, checklist 61% complete, 24 boxes logged and 18 packed, half the address changes done… and a gas connection flagged GAP RISK because the old service stops two days before moving day and the new one starts three days after. Every number is hand-verifiable.

You receive 3 files:
1. The planner, BLANK — budget lines, tasks, organisations and utilities pre-filled, ready for your move.
2. The planner, EXAMPLE — the Parkers’ complete fictional move filled in, so you can see exactly how everything works before you start.
3. A Quick Start Guide (PDF) — setup in about 5 minutes, and every tab explained.

Good to know:
• Works in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Yellow cells are for typing, grey cells are formulas — that’s the only rule.
• No subscriptions, no macros, no add-ons. Buy once, reuse for every move.
• Instant download — files are available as soon as you check out.

Moved in? Keep going with RemodelLedger:
• The Home Inventory Spreadsheet ($14.99) catalogues what you own room by room — worth doing while the boxes are still open, and exactly what an insurer wants after a claim.
• The Home Binder Printable Pack ($9.99) covers the paper side: emergency information, important home details, sitter instructions.
• The Whole Home Bundle ($34.99) brings the home organisation systems together for less than buying them separately.

About how this was made: This spreadsheet was created with the help of AI tools, then independently formula-tested (100 automated checks recalculated and verified, including blank and zero-value cases) and reviewed before listing — the same standard as every RemodelLedger product. The example family, addresses and numbers are fictional.
